Hometown Hero: Meet Maribel Sandalo

United Way of Western Connecticut is pleased to announce this month’s Hometown Hero! Meet Maribel Sandalo, a local leader from Stamford, Connecticut who has been nominated for her work with LiveGirl.

Maribel was nominated for the positive influence she’s made in the lives of Stamford youth over the last two years. As a mentor, she’s served as a role model to over 50 young girls working to build their self-esteem and social-emotional intelligence.

LiveGirl is a non-profit that works to prepare the next generation of female trailblazers with skills and connections; giving them the confidence they need to become leaders. Maribel contributes her time to their Confidence Club, a program in the Stamford area for middle school girls. She divides her time amongst three schools, one of which serves girls who are part of Stamford Public School District’s New Arrivals Program where she facilitates a bilingual group.

Hometown Hero: Maribel Sandalo

Maribel’s work directly aligns with United Way of Western Connecticut’s mission to create an impact that lasts among the people she serves.

Shamare Holmes, Program Director at LiveGirl, nominated Maribel and recognized her work saying that she “embodies community in its fullness and is the epitome of what a successful collaborator should be. She means business but has a heart for girls and people in general.”

Congratulations, Maribel! The care you have for your community is what makes you a Hometown Hero.
