United Way of Western Connecticut launched the public phase of the Pathways to Prosperity Campaign in August of 2021 to help the hardworking, struggling families we call ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) who live in Southern Litchfield County, Northern Fairfield County, and Stamford.
These are the people in our communities who work hard but can't make ends meet. They make up 38% of all households in Western Connecticut.
Since the pandemic, these workers have put their lives on the line to make sure we have what we need. They are warehouse employees, truck drivers, grocery store clerks, home health aides, and child care workers. Now it's time to help them.
Your donation to the Pathways to Prosperity Campaign will help struggling households in these ways:
Education
Your donation helps to pay for quality care for preschoolers and after-school programs and enrichment activities for school-age children.
Food Security
Your donation provides families with $10 in free, fresh produce each week through the Healthy Savings Program and supports food security efforts in partnership with members of the Danbury and Stamford Food Collaboratives.
Financial Stability
Your donation supports a matched savings and free budget coaching. It also supports free tax preparation for lower-income workers, so they get the refunds and credits they are eligible for.
